In the second quarter, Aker Carbon Capture ASA (“ACC ASA”) finalized a joint venture (JV) with SLB. The JV strategically combines technology portfolios, expertise, and operational platforms to support accelerated carbon capture adoption for industrial decarbonization at scale. ACC ASA booked a gain on the sale of NOK 4.9 billion and the cash position at the end of the second quarter was NOK 4.5 billion.
Completion of transaction to combine carbon capture business with SLB, changes to executive management
OSLO, June 14, 2024—Reference is made to the announcement made by Aker Carbon Capture ASA (“ACC ASA” or the “Company”) today regarding closing of the previously announced joint venture with SLB, which includes the sale by ACC ASA of 80% of its shares in Aker Carbon Capture Holding AS (“ACCH”) to a subsidiary of SLB. ACC ASA will maintain ownership of the remaining 20% of the shares in ACCH.

Aker Carbon Capture has been awarded a feasibility study by TES, to explore the implementation of a carbon capture plant at a waste-to-energy facility in Germany. The planned capture capacity will be 400,000 tonnes CO2 per year. The captured CO2 will be transported by railcar to the TES facilities at Wilhelmshaven in Northern Germany to produce e-NG, which is electric natural gas derived from green hydrogen and CO2. TES H2 is a global green energy company leading the way in the production of e-NG.

Aker Carbon Capture has been awarded an integration feasibility study by Söderenergi, one of Sweden’s largest district heating producers, to implement carbon capture at Igelstaverket in Södertälje. Located around 30 km from Stockholm, Igelstaverket is Sweden’s second largest biomass combined heat and power plant (CHP). The planned capture capacity will be around 500,000 tonnes biogenic CO2 per year, which could be transported and permanently sequestered to create negative emissions.
